Baildon Carnival
Traditionally Baildon carnival takes place on the second Saturday of July, and after there was no carnival in 2005, two club members, Willie Ellis and president Dave Mitchell decided to do something about it. A carnival committee was formed, with club stalwarts Simon Fitt, Sarah Ellis, Cath O'Connell & Pam Dawson, as well as reprentatives of other organisations - Andrew Foulds from Hoyle Court School and Baildon Runners, Sue Coates from the runners, and Norman Smith from the Methodist Church.
The result was a resounding success. After 2 years carnival committee now has over £4,000 in the bank, which means that small grants can be made to youth organisations in Baildon, as well as providing a fund to ensure that the carnival continues to flourish after vanishing from the Baildon calendar.

Local organisations who participated in 2006 and 2007also raised in excess of £7,000 for their worthy causes, and gained valuable new members, as well as advertising their capabilities to more than 2,000 people of various ages who attended even this year when the weather was appalling. It took several days to get the stage off the site due the mud! During 2006/7 donations of £500 pounds were made to the church school after their fire, and Baildon in Bloom to help them provide hanging baskets in the village.

Anyone who feels that their organisation might need some help from the carnival committee can email dave on mitchell.netherhall@btinternet.com - also if you wish to take part or assist next year we would be delighted to hear from you.
